Description

The D&D Gunworks Remington 700 / M40 Series Action Puller is designed to provide a controlled method of removing a Remington 700-style action from a stock during glass bedding and skim bedding work.

Removing a freshly bedded action by pulling, rocking, or striking the barreled action can place unnecessary stress on the bedding and make controlled removal difficult. An action puller allows the action to be lifted more evenly from the stock during the bedding process.

This style of action puller is also associated with the bedding procedures used on the USMC M40 series of rifles, making it particularly useful for gunsmiths and builders working on M40, M40A1, M40A3, M40A5, and other Remington 700-based rifles.

Our action puller was originally developed for use in our own rifle-building and glass-bedding work at D&D Gunworks. After building and using the tool in our own shop, we decided to make it available to other gunsmiths and rifle builders who may not want to fabricate a specialized action puller themselves.

The tool uses a combination of 3D-printed, aluminum, and steel components to provide a practical and economical solution for a tool that may only be needed periodically but can be extremely useful when bedding a rifle.

Important

This tool is intended to assist with controlled action removal during rifle bedding work. It is not intended to compensate for improperly prepared bedding jobs or other situations in which the action has become permanently bonded to the stock.
